Manos del Uruguay is a special brand of hand spun & dyed artisan yarns that supports rural Uruguayan women.  Manos is a non-profit organization that was founded to give women jobs, allowing them to be independent & support their families while being able to live in their home villages.

Ideal is a plump, round worsted weight yarn spun from 100% Polwarth wool.  Polworth sheep are a cross between Merino & Lincoln breeds.  This combination of softness, strength & durability is “ideal” for garments that are comfortable, as well as resistant to pilling.

The yarn produces even stitches that show off texture, cables & colorwork well.  It is beautiful alone or held with a favorite mohair.  Ideal is a versatile favorite for cold weather hats, cowls, wraps, cardigans & sweaters.  It is hand-dyed in a knittable palette of tonal & unique variegated colorways.
