Staggered Shawl by Amy Gunderson

Staggered Shawl by Amy Gunderson

This pattern is available on Ravelry.

Yarn

Universal Yarn Bamboo Pop (50% cotton, 50% rayon from bamboo; 100g/292 yds)

• 209 Jungle Life (A) – 1 ball

• 210 Orchid Smash (B) – 1 ball

• 112 Black (C) – 1 ball

Needles

US Size 7 (4.5 mm) 32” circular or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions

Stitch markers, tapestry needle

Gauge

18 sts x 28 rows = 4” in garter stitch

Save time, check your gauge.

Pattern notes

This shawl is worked from the top down.

The green (color A) and purple (color B) color changes are achieved by using the intarsia method. When changing from A to B and vice versa, be sure to bring the new color up and around the old color, putting a single twist in the yarns. This will prevent any holes from forming in the fabric.

Cut the C color at the end of every C stripe.

Errata

The stitch count at the end of row 10 should be 100, not 98. At each row after this point, stitch counts were off by 2 in the original version of this pattern.

Section 3, row 3 should read: With A k1, kfb, knit to 1 st before m, kfb, sl m, k2, sl m, kfb, k9, …

Section 2, Row 3 should read: With A k1, kfb, knit to 1 st before m, kfb, sl m, k2, sl m, kfb, k23, with B knit to last 3 sts, kfb, k2.

The last “sl m” instruction should be omitted. The same is true for Section 3 row 3. The color change is shifted 1 stitch over each RS row.
